The Story
Nepenthes have worked with art director, writer and 'izakaya explorer' Kazuhiko Ota to produce 5 original designs of tenugui.
Taking inspiration from American advertisements from the 'good old days', Ota's chic, nostalgic designs are printed with traditional Japanese dyeing techniques, producing rich blue tones with a lot of detail onto cotton tenugui.
Whilst traditionally used as washcloths, tenugui are used for a great many purposes in Japan; these can be enjoyed as neckerchiefs, hand towels, tied to a bag, or hung on the wall as a tapestry.
