The Story

The Shoulder Vest, despite its name, resembles half a vest more than a full one. Designed to be worn primarily over the left shoulder, the garment, which covers only half the torso, is secured with a belt that wraps under the arm and buckles across the waist. The military inspired design resembles tactical gear.

A buttoned pocket is found on top of a zipped compartment on the front side, but the design can be reversed to the right shoulder, revealing two pen sleeves and a patch pocket on the other face.

Daiki Suzuki refers to such unique pieces as tobidōgu (飛び道具), a Japanese term literally meaning "projectile" but used here to denote an unexpected, standout item that can transform an entire outfit. This concept emphasises the wearer's creativity and individuality rather than the item itself to make a piece stylish. This philosophy is central to the identity of Engineered Garments.
